Get Off The Bandwagon Of Drama-Filled Potty Training
Look, we all know your kid is going to potty train eventually. Your kid is not going to college in diapers. In fact, chances are your kid is not even going to pre-school in diapers, right? So it’s gonna happen. It’s not a question of WHY, it’s a question of HOW TO DO IT.
Don’t you want to potty train easy peasey pie?
Don’t you want to get this done right quick, so you can obsess over better things in your kid’s life?
Who doesn’t, right?
Well, every journey begins with a single step. The good news? You’ve already made that first step! You are here.
And breathe…
Readiness
If you have “a feeling” that it’s time to start potty training…you’re right; it is.
If you’re not sure if your child is ready…s/he most likely is. Now.
If you’ve begun and it’s taking you longer than a week…it’s taking too long.
Yup. You heard correct. Potty training should take no longer than a week. If it does, that means you’re not teaching your child a new skill. You’re effectively teaching him 2 skills; to pee on the pot sometimes and to pee in his diaper the rest of the time.
Who Am I?
I know…who the hell am I, right? I’m Jamie, the author of Oh Crap Potty Training. I’ve personally potty trained well over 250 kids. I’ve also helped thousands of parents teach their kids to potty train. And I can teach you.
I have a stress-free plan of action to potty train kids gently and effectively. This can be simple, quick, painless, and dare I say it…even a little fun.
How To Fix Any Potty Training Problems
It doesn’t matter what problems you’re having with potty training. What matters is figuring out how to fix them. I can help but you have to LET me help you. Kids don’t potty train on their own. They need help. In order to help, you have to know how. Do you know how to help your child learn this skill? Don’t worry if you don’t, I do and believe me, I know how tricky toddlers can be. Oh boy, do I!
I’ll be showing you:
- How to use the developmental window of opportunity for effortless PT
- How to back track and fix mistakes you may be making
- How to reset your child for a complete PT do-over
- How to deal with regressions and power struggles
- How to teach in a way that toddlers learn
Why You Need A Plan of Action
What’s a plan of action? It’s a blue-print. It’s a how-to manual. It’s taking actionable steps for a desired result. Do I have a magic wand? I wish! Do I have a big trick? Hell, no. What do I have? I’ve have very easy-to-read, fun, simple Plan of Action; clear, do-able steps to potty training. I’ve done the hard work of experimentation. I’ve worked hands-on with difficult kids. I’ve been in the trenches and come out relatively normal. I know how to do this. Even better, I know how to teach YOU how to do this.
Teaching Humans, Not Training Dogs
This easy plan works for all parents, regardless of your parenting philosophy. You should know right off the bat that I’m against rewards. So if you think you’re going to be the type to give an M&M or a sticker after a poop, we are not on the same page. That’s not my thing (check out my Major Roadblocks To Potty Training Success video).
You should know that I’m an advocate for children and gentle child rearing. You should know that I believe in teaching children as human beings, with dignity and respect. I do not believe in eliciting a Pavlovian response in children; in dogs, fine but children, no.
If you believe your child is a human being and should be treated as such, we’re cool. If you believe potty training is a developmental milestone, even better. If you want to avoid all the drama and hullabaloo you’re hearing about this, you have most definitely come to the right place.
This CAN be easy!
I have to constantly remind folks that potty training is a lot simpler than the “experts” would have you believe. Sometimes, what’s needed is an easy solution. And sometimes the easy, simple way is the best route.
The longer I’m a potty trainer, the more I want to scream:
THIS DOESN’T HAVE TO BE SO HARD! THIS DOESN’T HAVE TO BE SO STRESSFUL! Mostly: THIS DOESN’T HAVE TO TAKE SO LONG!
This can be soooo easy when you know exactly what to and have a plan to do. Every day, I try to figure out why it’s being turned into such a hassle for parents. Check out my blog. You’ll see what I mean. (Seriously, just the fact that I HAVE blog should let you know how much I think about potty training)
